I lifted her chin with my fingers and held her in place, so our eyes met. I noticed her lids were hooded and her eyes dilated with sensual need. “You are my definition of perfection. Don’t ever forget that.” I whispered against her lips, waiting for a response.
If I’d ever had any doubt
as to her submissiveness, it was laid to rest with her quiet, “Yes,
sir.” Two simple
words, but they meant everything to me.
Our mouths melded together, engaging in a passionate
dance. Her tongue caressed my lips, and my teeth nipped hers, each of us
begging to be inside the other. My lips
blazed a trail down her neck, nipping at the juncture of her shoulder. A soft moan escaped her throat, her fingers clenched
my shoulders, and she unconsciously rocked her hips against my thighs, making
me harden beneath her. Don’t forget this is about her tonight, not
you. You need to gain her trust, so she
knows you have her best interest at heart.
I brought one hand up to gently brush across one of
her breasts, feeling her hardened nipple through the fabric. The other traveled up her inner thigh to rest
against her center. I could feel the
heat radiating off of her lace panties, which were soaked with her arousal. The scent was starting to permeate the air and
forever burning a place within my heart and mind.
I slowly ran a finger along the edge of her panties,
but was met with a slap to my arm. Her
words were breathy, barely audible, as her head shook. “I can’t Rafe.
You promised we’d go slow.”
I held her close to me and gently bit her nipple
through her clothes. Her eyes closed, then she threw her head back, my name
expressed in a sensual moan that had me so hard I was afraid there would be a
permanent imprint of the zipper on my dick.
My mouth moved slowly up her jaw line and to her mouth, where I tugged
on her lower lip with my teeth, teasing it. “Make no mistake,
bella. I. Want. You. But tonight is all about your pleasure, not
mine. Let me show you what it can be
like with me. Let me give you both pleasure and pain. Together, they elicit
orgasms that have to be experienced to believe. I promise to take nothing for
myself, only giving you the satisfaction that you desire—that
you deserve. Please, may I show you what
it’s like to be mine?”
My hand moved higher on her inner thigh, massaging
circles into her skin, as I spoke. When
I reached her drenched center, I rubbed the heel of my hand against her mound
to emphasize my point. “Say no and we’ll
stop right now. I’ll return you to your hotel, no harm no
foul. What will it be, mi amore?”
She trembled and shifted closer, an impassioned, “Yes!” was her only
I thrust my tongue into her mouth, devouring every
inch of it, demonstrating what I’d love to do with her
in bed. My fingers found their way under the saturated lace of her panties and
caressed her warm, slick folds.
I stroked from her clit to her entrance once, twice,
and elicited a sweet moan from her lips.
“That’s it, bella. Feel me, my touch, focus on this moment, and
allow the pleasure to fill you.”
Dawn’s body relaxed into
mine, my fingers moved further down to her soaked center. Her smell was intoxicating. A gentle hint of lavender mixed with the
subtly of cherries. It was all I could
do not to rip open my pants and shove deep inside her. My cock had other ideas, but tonight would be
about gaining her trust, show her I was a man of my word. I’d give her pleasure
beyond her wildest dreams, but I’d leave her craving
My teeth nipped at that oh so tender spot just behind
a woman’s ear that drove everyone nuts,
including Dawn. I slipped one finger
into her center, as my thumb smoothed over her hardened nub, causing her to
rock hard against my hand. I knew
there was a little minx in there somewhere.
Now I just need to coax it to the surface and encourage it to
Her core was tight, hot, and needy. Her vaginal walls clamped down hard on my
finger, sucking me inside. I rimmed her
core, trying to stretch her with each pass until I was finally able to push in
another finger. She’d be hell on my dick, so tight I wouldn’t even last a second. God, she felt good.
Dawn began riding my hand. My thumb circled her
distended clit, and my fingers sought out the bundle of nerves inside that
would make her explode in my arms. Her
breathing became erratic and soft whimpers escaped her lips as her walls began
to flutter against my fingers.
“This is your first
lesson in discipline, mia bella angelo.
You will not come until I tell you.” Her body became stiff as she
tensed. She scrunched her eyes and
panted in an attempt to keep herself from coming apart in my arms. I wouldn’t torture her for
I kept up my ministrations, as she whimpered and
fought to control her body. Her scent,
her movements, everything about her solidified it was only her that I needed.
And I needed her here, with me.
Her fingers began to dig into my shoulders, signaling
it was time to watch my woman come for the first time. My fingers moved in and out of her moist heat
at a brutal pace. My thumb pressed firmly against her clit, I whispered against
her neck, “Come for me, mi amore,” and my fingers curved inward to press against her
g-spot. Her body began to quake in my
arms and my mouth covered hers, swallowing her cry of ecstasy.
Sometimes authors tell you that their books can be read as standalones, but they don't make much sense if you haven't read the other books. This is not the case with I NEED YOU HERE. I hadn't read the other books in the Need series, but it all made perfect sense and, as stated in the synopsis, the books can be read alone, out of order, and separately.
I liked the concept behind the story in I NEED YOU HERE. It's a genre I read a lot of so I quickly scooped it up when offered a chance to read and review the book.
Overall I liked both Rafe and Dawn. He is strong, alpha, and Dominant. She is inexperienced in many ways, but she is also strong in her own way. She's had to be strong in her life. Rafe introduces Dawn to the BDSM lifestyle. He sees submission in her and knows already that he's a Dom.
Rafe has always shied away from relationships, but he is drawn to Dawn. From the moment he meets her he knows there's something special there. Dawn is hiding her past (and her present). She's very secretive. She doesn't want help; she wants to make it on her own.
This book switched POV from Dawn to Rafe, but it wasn't confusing to understand. It helped tell both points of view and worked well. The thing I didn't like was that the book kept going from the past to the present. Rafe or Dawn would be talking to each other or someone else and it would switch to the past. It seemed sometimes like, if they were only telling a story, too many small details were divulged. It didn't seem real. I also had a hard time with Dawn's back story. It was too over the top and cliche. Her past wasn't realistic.
Other than those two minor points though, I liked the story and will most likely read the other stories in this series. I give I NEED YOU HERE3.5 STARS!

Rage might be an aggressive Hunter by nature, but the gorgeous male has never had a problem charming the females. All except Lucie Gaudet. Of course, the lovely Geek is a born troublemaker, and it was no surprise to Rage when she was kicked out of the Wildlands.
But now the Pantera need a first-class hacker to stop the potential destruction of their people. And it’s up to Rage to convince Lucie to help. Can the two forget the past—and their sizzling attraction—to save the Pantera?
Gorgeous, brutal, aggressive, and human, Killian O’Roarke wants only two things: to get rid of the Pantera DNA he’s been infected with, and get back to the field. But the decorated Army Ranger never bargained on meeting the woman—the female—of his dreams on his mission to the Wildlands.
Rosalie lost her mate to a human, and now the Hunter despises them all. In fact, she thinks they’re good for only one thing: barbeque. But this one she’s guarding is testing her beliefs. He is proud and kind, and also knows the pain of loss. But in a time of war between their species, isn’t any chance of love destined for destruction?
She turned and headed for the door
only to be stopped in her tracks by six-plus feet of hard muscle, sinister
expression, and shimmering blue shark eyes.
Her heart stuttered inside her
chest. Was it possible that he had become a male
in one day? Her gaze ran the length of him. He sure looked like one of
“K-killian…what are you…where were
you…” she uttered like a scared fool. Which she was not. Refused to be. Hunter, female. You’re a f*cking hardass
Hunter. Act like it!
“Couldn’t sleep,” he said.
His voice was husky like his cat’s
growl, and it made her entire body tense. Flare with a heat she refused to
acknowledge. It sounded hungry, demanding. Goddess, she remembered that sound.
When Raphael had called her back to the cage, to a crazed puma who had
instantly calmed and softened the moment she’d wrapped her hands around the
bars and given him her attention.
“I’m not surprised,” she said.
“Sleeping in here can’t be easy.”
His eyes dropped to her mouth,
making everything south of her navel stir. “Not in the mood for any new
“Sure. Of course.” Why did she
sound so breathless?
Those eyes lifted to connect with
hers. “Unless I do what you do to block them out.”
She licked her dry lips. What the
hell was happening to her? Every inch of her skin was tight. Hot. Ready to be
touched. “I think you should wait on that. Shifting is an art. Takes practice
“Is that why you’re here, Hunter?”
he asked with just a touch of sarcasm. One dark brow lifted. “To teach me?”
Her sex actually clenched at his
words. Dammit! She shook her head. Not here to teach him, Anything. Right?
Right? “I want to take you somewhere,” she managed to push out.
Those brows drew together. “Why?” A
growl rumbled in his chest. His very broad chest. “To finish the job you started
on the bank?” Even in the dim light, she saw his eyes suddenly cloud over. “I
just might let you.”
Her heart clenched at his words
this time. As she’d said to him once, she knew pain when she heard it. And fuck
her, she heard it now. “Don’t say sh*t like that.”
He sniffed. “It’s true.”
“I don’t care.”
“I know,” she said, then added,
“It’s overwhelming and shocking and scary and you have no clue what you want or
what this means.”
His eyes were tightly fitted to
hers. “Yeah. Something like that.”
“I’m sorry, Killian.” His nostrils
flared at her use of his name. “For everything. How I attacked you on the bank.
Treated you last night. Then, coming around in my puma…”
He shook his head. “You heard the
tech and Raphael. It was already done. Sealed-fate kind of thing.”
His nostrils flared and a soft
groan rumbled in his throat. “It’s so weird having you call me that.”
“You don’t like it?”
“Sh*t, Hunter, of course I like
Her insides melted, both at his
words and the soft lust reflected in his eyes. She reached for his hand. “Come
with me? I want to show you something.”
Let me start by saying that I haven't read any of the books in the Bayou Heat series so when reading Rage and Killian I was at times a bit confused. I would definitely suggest reading some of the other books before jumping into these. While I was told it would be fine that I hadn't read the other books, it really wasn't. Right from the beginning of Rage there were references to characters and plots that I wasn't getting. I didn't really know who the Pantera were or why they were.
That being said, once I got past the confusion and just decided to go with it I enjoyed both stories. I've read quite a few paranormal books and series so while the Pantera were new to me, the idea was not.
Rage is all alpha, which if you've read my reviews before you'll know is right up my alley. Lucie is troubled, but she's always had a crush on Rage. Rage and Lucie had grown up together, but nothing ever happened. It's evident from the beginning of this book that there is obvious chemistry between the two. Rage just has to win her over. Together the two work to solve a problem and their relationship takes off.
Killian is also all alpha. He's ex military and hot. He comes to the Wildlands for answers and help. Rosalie wants nothing to do with this human, but she is irresistibly attracted to him. She tries to stay away, but can't. The two seem to be meant for each other. Both Killian and Rosalie are strong and both battle for dominance. It's entertaining to watch (read).
Overall both stories were nice, quick stories perfect to finish up summer vacation. I give Rage/Killian 3.5 STARS!
Alexandra Ivy is a New York Times and USA Todaybestselling author. From Alexandra: “I’m not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother’s knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library.
Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.
Years later (no, I’m not admitting how many) I’m still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!
I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.
Laura Wright is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. From Laura: “Unlike many of my peers in the writing world, I wasn’t a writer or a reader until I left high school. During my youth I was into theater, song and dance, commercials and boys. I loved romance surely, but I had never read a romance novel until my late teens. With that said, I remember the day I did like it was a moment ago – my aunt gave me the Jude Deveraux novel, Knight in Shining Armor and I couldn’t put it down until the very last word. Then I went straight to the library and got another – then another until I’d read everything she’d ever written. After that, it was McNaught, Howard, Schone, Kleypas, and the Silhouette line, Desire. I instantly loved those emotional, sexy reads, so much so that I began to carve out ideas for my own stories, themes that were unique to me and moved me. In 1997 I enrolled in UCLA extension writing classes, met my mentor and critique partners and since have never stopped writing. I was committed then and I still am now; the need to tell my own romantic stories a full on obsession. My first manuscript was rejected, and though the second one was as well the editor who’d rejected it wanted to see something else from me. I had something (note to authors; always keep working, even after you’ve sent in a proposal) and sent it right away. The day I got the call telling me Desire wanted to buy Cinderella and the Playboy was the best day of my life. That is until I married my husband, and had my two beautiful children. But I must say, writing is much like motherhood – tough, grueling, surprising, delicious and for me, a dream come true.”
